In a shared effort to reuse and activate existing city properties, we partnered with the South Moravian Innovation Center to complete our second retrofit project in Brno. The facility now provides space for an open innovation ecosystem that supports successful entrepreneurs in the region.
The institute’s headquarters are located in a former laboratory space within Brno’s technological park. As the working model evolved to become more open and collaborative, the fixed structural layout of the research building became obsolete. As specialists in alternative retrofit workspaces, we were invited to develop a new vision for an office environment that fosters collaboration while promoting openness and creativity.
To achieve this, fixed and enclosed walls were replaced with transparent, organic forms that accommodate meeting rooms and private workstations. To ensure a sustainable renovation, much of the existing furniture was retained, along with the original lighting and primary floor finishes.
