Zoos play an important role in children’s education, offering a direct encounter with the diversity of life on Earth. Through guided programs, presentations, and interactive experiences, children learn about animals, their habitats, and the ecosystems they inhabit. Seeing animals up close helps them understand the needs of different species while fostering empathy and responsibility toward nature.

Beyond observation, zoos cultivate environmental awareness and curiosity about the natural world. Encounters with endangered species and living ecosystems encourage young visitors to develop a deeper connection to conservation and biodiversity.

At Zoo Brno, these principles guide the creation of new educational spaces within the campus. An existing paved area is transformed into an open-air lecture hall — a place for learning, culture, and gathering beneath the open sky. Dignified in purpose yet playful in character, the space is designed to engage both children and adults.

The central forum is complemented by a didactic garden that expands the educational experience through direct interaction with plants and ecological systems — a place where people, animals, and plants exist and learn side by side.
